Sino-U.S. To Jointly Set Up Medical Device R&D; Base In Shenzhen

Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, a branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and American medical device company STI Medical Systems will jointly set up a high-level medical device R&D base in Shenzhen. Find out what their focus will be.

The collaboration will focus on five areas: (1) STI will invest in SIAT and set up the R&D facility; (2) STI and SIAT will jointly apply for research grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and the U.S. FDA; (3) SIAT may send its students for internships in the U.S; (4) both organizations will incorporate their funding, technology, talent and facilities as well as research management experience; and (5) both will establish an integrated industry application laboratory and possibly a joint venture firm when future conditions are ripe.
