Deal summary reprinted from Strategic Transactions - February, 2010
The Her Option products brought in $10mm in revenues over the last 12 months. The treatment, a cryoblation therapy that can be performed in an ob/gyn's office under minimal anesthesia and with little discomfort, was approved by the FDA in 2001 for women with excessive menstrual bleeding that do not want to have a hysterectomy. AMSH purchased its developer, CryoGen, in 2002, but is divesting Her Option--which it calls a non-strategic asset--in order to focus on selling its products for men (urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction) and women (urinary and fecal incontinence and vaginal prolapse) in the pelvic health markets.
