Deal summary reprinted from Strategic Transactions - March 2009
The transaction builds up Enzo's portfolio, fitting in nicely with the Alexis and Biomol brands, and helps Enzo better position itself in the diagnostics and scientific/medical research markets. Serving the biotech, pharma, and life science industries, Assay produces luminescent reagents as well as specialty immunological and biochemical protein detection kits--including eicosanoid, human and mouse cytokine, and nonradioactive Cox activity kits--that identify and quantify small molecules and proteins involved in inflammation, immunity, oxidative and cellular stress, steroid and hormone biology, cell signaling, and bioenergetics. The company's annual revenues surpass $11mm. The last time Assay made any waves in dealmaking was 2005, when it bought Stressgen Bioreagents from Ampersand Ventures. That acquisition brought Assay an additional line of heat shock proteins, plus ELISA kits, antibodies, recombinant proteins, and reagents.
