Company provides $1.5 million in urgently needed medical supplies; Donates $250,000 in cash grants

LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 22, 2010 -- Hospira, Inc. (NYSE: HSP), a leading global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company, and its philanthropic arm, the Hospira Foundation, have made initial donations of approximately $1.75 million in medical products and cash grants to support humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti. More than 750,000 units of Hospira products, valued at more than $1.5 million, are either in Haiti or en route to the country and include antibiotics, intravenous (I.V.) solutions, analgesics and anesthetics, all of which are in high demand and are integral to serving the needs of disaster victims.
"We are working closely with humanitarian aid agencies to help the people of Haiti obtain access to critical products needed in the provision of medical care," said Christopher B. Begley, chairman and chief executive officer. "The Hospira family expresses deep sympathy to all of the victims of this tragedy, and we will continue to work in the coming weeks and months to provide health and wellness to this devastated region."
In addition to donating products, Hospira has made a total of $200,000 in initial cash grants to the Red Cross and to the company's partners, which include AmeriCares, Direct Relief International, Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) and Project Hope. Hospira also will match employee contributions dollar for dollar up to $50,000 through the Hospira Foundation.
Hospira will continue to monitor disaster relief efforts in Haiti, and will evaluate opportunities to provide additional assistance as further needs and information become available.
