The latest version of the Lifenet web-based data network from Physio-Control includes a 510(k)-cleared iPhone application called Lifenet Consult that allows cardiologists to monitor chest-pain patients before they reach the hospital and alert hospital administrators that the cath lab will be needed.
Earlier this month, the Medtronic subsidiary released its fifth-generation Lifenet 5.0 for emergency responders and hospitals. The product can transmit vital signs such as 12-lead electrocardiography data from ambulance monitors in the field to a hospital cath lab via the web-based network.
"This makes the entire chest-pain management more efficient," Cam Pollock, vice president of global marketing for Physio-Control, told "The Gray Sheet."
