Despite a $37.6 billion overall cut in federal government domestic spending, a compromise fiscal 2011 funding agreement gives FDA about $107 million more dollars, totaling about $2.46 billion, compared to 2010.
CDRH also held its own, with the device center slated to receive $323 million in government funding in FY 2011, an $8 million increase over 2010.
The President had requested $2.5 billion for FDA, and $326 million for CDRH, back in February 2010 when he made his original budget request for fiscal 2011.
The compromise funding resolution passed both chambers of Congress on April 14 and was expected to be signed by the president April 15.
